2018 has been a busy but very productive year for us. The public consultation in May was the culmination of many months of investigation, planning, design and redesign. We were finally able to reveal our vision for Althorpe Street and make our development public.
The presented development was never a fait accompli but our vision of what was possible for this underused, underfunded area of town. To ensure a good footfall to the public consultation, over 4000 invitations were hand delivered to local residents – far exceeding any other invitation radius to other public consultations. We were thrilled with the turnout which proved the people of Leamington care about their town. It was wonderful to meet with the people who, we hope, will be our neighbours and customers and also the businesses we intend to support with the development. A huge number of response forms were filled in at the event and we have taken time to go through each one.
The Althorpe area of Leamington has long been underused and underdeveloped so our mission is to improve, develop and progress. This area of our town deserves a well earned spotlight to highlight the beautiful canal side and some of the creative people who work here. We also have a strong desire to provide an attractive business area to help keep our talented residents in Leamington.
Yes, our thought process was thorough and detailed but without the opinion and ideas of the public they would always be incomplete. We can’t stress enough our desire to produce a development that works.
Fear can lead to anger and anger is not conducive to progress. We feel a need to understand and be understood – contrary to some misleading reports in the local press. To this end we set up this blog to aid communication. We would be delighted to hear feedback on our posts and hope to create a relevant dialogue with our readers.
